About Dre

A lifelong love for being active and curiosity for learning new things led Dre into a yoga class in early 2012 in Oaxaca, Mexico. What started as a desire to learn Spanish led to what has become one of the most important practices in her life – YOGA.

After moving to New York City and taking a job on Wall Street, Dre found that yoga became a critical escape from a hectic and demanding schedule: a way to actively meditate by finding balance, strength, calm, and clarity. Chasing a desire to grow her own practice and always learn something new, Dre completed her first training program at Yoga to the People in New York City in 2015 and earned her 200-hour RYT. After apprenticing at Yoga to the People, she began to teach one-on-one and small group classes independently, as well as community classes for Lululemon in Chelsea.

When COVID-19 changed everyday life as we know it in the beginning of 2020, Dre migrated back down south to her childhood home in Louisiana, where she began teaching yoga on her screened porch each day to her “quarantine mates” and to others live on Zoom. On a shady porch, just an hour outside of the Crescent City, is where Yoga by Dre really took off. Dre continues to work in finance while practicing, exploring, and teaching yoga at the same time.

With over 3 years of teaching experience, she continues to provide easy, accessible classes to the masses. Having grown up with two parents as teachers, she works hard to provide thoughtful classes that empower each individual; support students in their pursuits to experiment with movement, balance, strength, and focus; and to create an environment that is welcoming and supportive to all. Dre's teaching style focuses first and foremost on the breath as the best way to explore the body and movement. Classes encourage students to challenge themselves, find their edge, and cultivate a practice that can have great longevity.
